Signs signs, everywhere a sign

*Disclaimer*
This story is from second hand accounts and is in no way anything I nor my friends did while we were young and stupid.
*Disclaimer*
Hooligans are born around the same time as they get there driver's license, and this story is a prime example of that correlation. The story involves a group of young high school students with nothing to do on a school night because, heaven forbid they do their homework or study. If memory of the story serves me it began at one of the boy's houses where he and four other young boys were sitting around doing not much of anything. One boy had to go home so we. Did I say we? I meant they. Silly me. Anyway, they all piled in the car and headed off to his house. On the way they couldn't help but notice that it was the local voting season. They were able to determine this by the countless lawn signs promoting various local politicians. Some lawns had several and some had a dozen or so on them. The youngsters were annoyed with how cluttered all of these signs made their town look so they decided to do something about it. And that something was to rid the local lawns of these mini billboards, and we all know VT don't allow no billboard. They were just trying to prevent the eventual slippery slope that those small signs would create. First it would begin with lawn signs then before too long -BAM- our interstates would be peppered with atrocities advertising giant unhealthy Big Macs or annoying British insurance-hawking geckos. Anyways, there was around a dozen or so of these lawn signs in the trunk when lo and behold the popo pulled the car over. Unfortunately the trunk wasn't shut completely and an even bigger unfortunately, the driver was the son of a cop who might or might not have been on duty that night. Needless to say there was a very quick and terrified commotion in the car especially with the trunk not shut and it being filled with evidence of the night's mischievous acts. The cop walked up and there was a hint of "I know you" between him and the young driver. The young driver informed the cop that he was just driving home one of his friends. I guess I better get to the reason why these kids got pulled over. It happened just after a lawn sign snatching. The kids got back into the car after depositing two signs into the trunk without fully closing it. They pulled out onto a road when a cop appeared in front of them so out of panic, stupidity, or just plain hope to turn invisible the driver decided to turn his lights off even though they had already pointed directly at the cop car, so you know the cop saw them. The others in the car started yelling, "why are you turning your lights off?!!!!" In the confusions the lights came back on and probably blinded the cop momentarily. Why would he not pull over a car that was full of young boys, in the middle of the night, after they just flashed their lights at him? So after the driver and the cop exchanged words the cop directed them to drop the kid off then to go straight home. They had all thought they were in the clear when he began walking back to his car. That was until he did a double take on the slightly open trunk. Not a sound or heartbeat could be heard in the car as they watched him stop and turn to look at the trunk. But, as luck would have it he turned back around, got in his cruiser, and drove away. They dropped the kid off at his house and headed back to the driver's place to go to bed for the night. On their way back they stopped at their sign dumping ground. It was behind a barn of one of their friends from the grade below them (a separate but still amusing prank). As they brought the signs behind the bar to dispose of they decided that that night would have to be the last night they would "clean the local lawns and prevent the billboard invasion." And if you were there you would see that the dozen or so signs they tossed in a pile landed on an already existing pile of about a hundred or so others. Because, you see, this was not their first adventure, but it was to be their last. Their actions had made the local paper and they had even heard of people putting video cameras in their windows to catch these rebels in action. On the upside though. There still aren't any billboards along the highways in Vermont.....you're welcome.
